2014 Season

Our 2014 Summer Musical Under the Stars:

August 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, & 24, 2014

Six young people in the throes of puberty vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves.  Along the way, they learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.  A hilarious tale of overachievers' angst set to music.

The show was presented on the gazebo stage in Washington Memorial Park.

No, this probably isn't the way you remember the story of Robin Hood, but it sure is a lot funnier!

Written by Mary Lynn Dobson and directed by Barbara Gianotto, the production manager from the original performance, this play presents the Robin Hood tale with irreverential reverence and a Mel Brooks-style sense of humor.  The tale is told by a mild-mannered but very able Town's Guy, who hangs around with the hapless hero and his band of Merry Men as they work to save the fair Lady Marian and the poor people of England from the tyrannical rule of The Evil Prince John (Boo, hiss! Boo, hiss!) and his sinister sidekick, the Sheriff of Nottingham.  Lots of modern jokes make it in as well, involving Yodels, a torture device from YouTube, and a bowling tournament!

The show was presented in the First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen.
